Eaton UPS SNMP problem

Hi,

one of our customers want to monitor their Eaton UPS, but the output looks really weird:

Then I downloaded the SNMP walk and the line, which should contain the interface description
( OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2 ifDescr reference info )
looks like this:

.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2.2 "33 23 30 13 33 23 13 33 37 32 33 3B B3 33 33 B7 33 11 31 30 13 33 33 33 33 33 77 33 33 37 F3 B3 33 33 33 33 33 33 32 31 33 33 33 3B 3F 33 B3 33 32 22 33 33 33 33 31 33 33 33 3F 33 3B 33 BB 33 23 13 33 33 33 32 33 33 33 33 73 37 33 33 33 33 13 33 32 20 33 32 31 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 37 33 33 21 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 3B 33 33 3B 33 33 33 33 33 31 33 33 31 33 23 33 33 33 33 33 33 37 37 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 3B 33 B3 33 31 13 33 32 33 33 33 31 33 33 33 B7 33 33 73 B3 3B 33 33 23 31 33 33 33 12 33 37 37 3B 3F 33 B3 33 33 33 11 31 33 33 33 31 33 37 33 33 33 37 3B 33 33 13 31 30 33 33 23 32 33 33 33 3B 33 37 F3 33 32 23 33 13 31 33 33 31 33 33 F3 3F BB 33 33 33 13 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 3B 33 73 37 33 3B 33 3B 33 33 33 33 31 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 B3 33 33 33 11 33 31 11 31 33 73 33 33 33 33 73 3F 33 33 11 32 33 33 32 33 33 33 33 3B 33 33 33 33 33 23 31 33 33 31 33 33 73 33 33 33 31 33 33 77 33 33 31 21 33 33 23 33 33 37 37 B3 B3 33 33 33 31 33 33 31 33 33 21 13 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 3B 23 31 33 32 33 33 33 33 73 33 3B 37 33 33 37 33 33 33 13 33 31 13 13 33 33 33 33 33 33 77 37 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 3B 33 33 33 33 33 B3 37 33 33 31 31 13 33 33 31 33 33 33 33 B3 37 3B 37 33 32 31 33 33 31 31 23 37 33 33 37 37 33 33 7B 33 33 33 31 33 33 32 31 33 33 33 33 B3 33 3B 3B 33 33 03 33 33 33 20 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 3A 33 13 33 30 33 33 33 33 37 73 33 33 37 3B 33 33 12 33 33 33 23 30 33 B3 33 B3 33 33 3F B3 32 12 33 33 13 33 30 31 37 3B 33 33 33 33 33 33 31 33 32 30 33 33 31 33 33 B3 33 77 33 37 BB 37 33 33 32 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 3B 33 33 33 33 33 32 73 33 33 33 31 33 33 37 33 33 33 37 33 37 33 33 33 33 33 33 23 23 73 23 73 33 33 37 33 33 13 32 33 23 33 33 33 13 33 33 72 33 33 33 33 77 23 13 33 13 33 33 33 33 3B 33 3B 33 B3 BB 33 3B 33 33 32 13 33 33 33 33 33 33 77 33 33 31 33 33 33 33 23 33 31 33 33 33 33 33 73 33 33 33 33 33 33 31 11 31 31 33 32 33 33 33 3B 33 B3 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 33 31 33 33 33 33 BF 33 B7 33 B2 33 32 31 A3 33 33 11 31 33 33 73 33 B3 31 F3 B3 33 33 12 31 33 33 33 31 3B 33 73 33 33 33 3B 3B 33 32 33 31 33 33 20 13 33 33 B3 37 3B 2B 73 33 33 33 22 32 33 33 23 37 33 33 33 37 33 33 3B 33 33 33 23 32 33 32 23 32 33 B3 37 33 33 33 3F 3B 33 33 33 33 13 33 33 32 33 3B 37 37 33 33 31 73 "

So, I guess the problem is a malformed SNMP output - or is this normal? I’ve never seen something like this.

Thanks for reading,
Roland.

I think you can only update the firmware on the management card and reboot it.
If it stays this way you can check if the Alias instead of description works better.
If i remember correctly i saw such an output only one time until now.

Thanks. That’s exactly what I told the customer.
I didn’t think of switching to Alias, however. I’ll update this topic as soon as I get feedback about the firmware update.

After the firmware update the check looks fine.
The strange line says now:

.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2.2 eth0
