Grafting IP addresses or real hostnames onto Meraki devices

I’ve successfully gotten our CheckMK server talking with our Meraki environment using the advanced Meraki special agent, and since we have several hundred devices I’ve discovered them successfully via a dynamic discovery. What I’m running into now is that the dynamic discovery only applies a device’s name to its CheckMK host. I’d like the IP address, or at least the real hostname, to be on the CheckMK host, but I seemingly can’t edit the IP address information of hosts created via dynamic discovery. Is there a way to add that information either with dynamic discovery or after the fact?

The DCD has no knowledge of the IP-Address of each device and sets the address family to No-IP. If you remove the option Network address IP address family form the DCD rule, you can set the IP-address for each device manually.

What do you mean by real hostname? The DCD uses by default the host name form the Meraki cloud (this should be the real host name).

Thanks for the confirmation, I found the options to remove the assignment rule from another thread and can now manipulate the options I’d like to. Only catch is, it requires re-creating the hosts.

As far as “real hostnames” it’s the dynamic-m.com names that look to be associated with firewalls. I’d assume those behave differently as they are part of meraki’s purview and are not a part of our domain?
