Have host UP Without ping

Version: 1.6.0p13 Raw

Today another unusual question,

ICMP (ping) is not allowed for some hosts, but agent verification is correct.

Obviously, the UP control comes from the ping, and if it is not authorized, the host appears DOWN, but the services are OK.

So, is it possible to have: STATE OK with the “Check_MK” service (for example), instead of Ping?

Hi,

yes, that is possible:

you can set the Monitoring configuration - „Host Check Command“ to „Use the status oft he Check_MK_Agent“ or e.g. another service that indicates that the host is up.
