Hello Community! ![]()
We invite you to take part in a new community project and help us build the best OpenTelemetry metrics support for Checkmk.
Some time ago, we shared our plans to support OpenTelemetry metrics as part of expanding Checkmk’s application monitoring. Now, we’ve started implementing it in an experimental fashion.
At this stage, we have integrated an OpenTelemetry collector into our installers. It can be started with the Checkmk site, receive OpenTelemetry metrics via OTLP, and scrape Prometheus metric endpoints. We want to share our progress with you, continuously update you on developments, and refine the integration based on real-world feedback—so that it works for the people who will actually use it: you.
The process involves joining recurring meetings where we will present the latest developments and discuss your feedback.
We believe that working together will not only improve the result but also make the process more valuable for everyone involved.
The first meeting, including a demo of the current implementation, will take place on March 26th at 2 PM (Berlin time) on Zoom.
If you cannot make it, we will share a recording of the similar demo later – the call itself will not be recorded to create a comfortable atmosphere during the call.
Looking forward to seeing you there and hearing your thoughts!
