Host lookup by IP address does not work

CMK version: 2.3.0p30
OS version: ubuntu 22.04

In the search menu:

Setup > Hosts > Main > Search for hosts

No results are shown when searching by IP address. I’ve tried different search methods, but none of them show any data. However, searching by IP address in QuickSearch works perfectly:

If you search this way, it will find only hosts that have the IP address explicitly set in the host configuration.

The inline help:

In case the name of the host is not resolvable via /etc/hosts or DNS by your monitoring server, you can specify an explicit IP address or a resolvable DNS name of the host here.
Notes:

1. If you do not set this attribute, hostname resolution will be done when you activate the configuration. Check_MKs builtin DNS cache is activated per default in the global configuration to speed up the activation process. The cache is normally updated daily with a cron job. You can manually update the cache with the command cmk -v --update-dns-cache.
2. If you enter a DNS name here, the DNS resolution will be carried out each time the host is checked. Check_MKs DNS cache will NOT be queried. Use this only for hosts with dynamic IP addresses.

I understand. It only searches by full IP addresses, not by part of them like QuickSearch does.

Well, I find QuickSearch’s search method more interesting. Don’t you think?

Even if you enter a full IP address, it won’t find that host if IP address isn’t explicity set in the host configuration. Like this example.

If it is set, then it can be found that way.

Depending on your needs, QuickSearch might be faster / easier to use.
