Host notifications

Hi Team,

  1. One of our server has been rebooted and the notification has not triggered to contacts??

  2. Notification settings are normal, some times it takes more time to trigger the notifications.

  1. How long was the time needed for reboot?
  • is it possible that the host has not reached a hard state for the host state down?
  1. What do you mean exactly with this? If your host or service reach a hard state a notification is sent to the notification system. The notification system then decides who gets the notification. If your system is not generating some hundred mails per minute this should only take some seconds.
The trigger of the notification is on every object the check attempts to reach an hard state. And if you made some settings to the rule “Delay host/service notifications”.
  1. Sever was rebooted and up in few minutes,How long will it take to reach hard state& enter to down state and trigger an alert.

  2. No delay host notification rule was set.

Hard state depends on your configuration of “check attempts”.
Example

Here it will need 3 minutes down before a hard state is reached.
You can define this with the rule “Maximum number of check attempts for host” or services.
