How can I use Checkmk in server/domain root?

I’ve got LAMP stack sorted, with it’s own IP, and that works perfectly.
But I am wondering how I can use Checkmk without the /[sitename] involved. It’d rather it be the plain sub-domain (in this instance).

I had thought I could update the vhost files to the DocumentRoot for checkmk, but I do not know what that is (nor can I find a reference to it); I think the same issue applies for a Syslink.

I read on here about editing the omd.conf file for redirects, but that just brings up a login browser prompt (not the web login form).

I also thought about simply installing checkmk to the /var/www/ folder, but I don’t know how to that with the OMD command.

I do not intend on installing multiple versions of Checkmk.

CMK version: 2.1.0
OS version: Ubuntu 20.04

I did think of that, and although a solution, not something I desire.

Is there a way to go use the DocRoot or Syslink methods?

I don’t think so.
The concept of the original OMD is, that the software is fully independent from other applications on the same machine. With the site name you can select a suitable name for every possible scenario.
