How do you clean up deleted hosts?

Do you have any easy method to clean up after deleting a host?
We automatically delete hosts after they vanish from our CMDB but that leaves
perfdata lying around as well as downtimes.

If the hostname gets recycled the new host will be in a very confusing state at first and maybe even in downtime.

I see that we could script that but are there any built-in features to help with cleanup?
