Hello, I had some questions on how to adjust the timeouts and attempts for checks.
Is there a way to configure how many attempts a check makes before marking it critical?
Can this be done for all checks or does it need to be configured for each?
How can you configure the timeout values for checks? For instance, on one of our SQL servers i get flooded with hundreds of events when it times out on the check and recovers within a minute or two so i think the initial timeout value needs to be longer or the number of attempts needs to be changed but i cannot seem to find where in the GUI i can make these changes to test settings. Its not just SQL, i have several that need to be adjusted and would almost prefer to make this change across the board and see if it helps first.
I’d recommend search for “timeout” in the GUI and you will get exactly all rules that can be used for adjusting timeout. You can also look at all agent rules as there are plenty of ways this can be archived.
Hi, there are also rules called service check attempt and host check attempt. There you could define the number of necessary checks, also globally for all hosts and services.
Thank you for the responses, that seemed to quiet down the alerts considerably.
Where would I find the setting to adjust the timeout for this response:
[agent] Success, Missing monitoring data for plugins: wmi_cpuloadWARN , execution time 20.6 sec
Service is just listed as Check_MK.
After adjusting all i could find to adjust this one still gets through and just needs more time before it alerts.
