How to delay email notification when a host is unreachable for certain minutes?

Hello,

Sometimes due to an internet connection, we receive emails that hosts are unreachable. I want to create a rule to delay notifications.
I have created a rule for it under “Delay service notifications” and in the service field, I have added Check_MK. But if a host is down, it sends a notification immediately, however, the timeout is 5 minutes in the rule. Could you please let me know what I am doing wrong? Thanks.

You need to create a rule in “Delay host notifications” if you want to delay a host notification.

Thank you for your reply. “Delay host notifications” will delay all notifications of the host including CPU, Memory usage or just host reachable notifications?

It will only delay notification sent for the host status, not the services.

Stupid question: The host in the folder “Linux VMs” and you have activated the changes?

“Delay host notifications” is for hosts and “Delay service notifications” is for services. So if you want to delay both you have to create both rules.

If you are looking at the host view and hit Host > Effective parameters, do you see the “Delay host notifications” reflecting your desired change?

Also, what services are listed under the host for additional checks?
In our environment we have a few ping only devices that have a Host check but CheckMK also adds a single Ping service check as services can’t be ‘empty’. Just in case there are service AND host notifications to deal with as @r.sander and @uwoehler mention.
