How to do SNMP only?

Hello everyone

I’m running Checkmk 2.0.0.9, intending to use it to monitor some network devices in my home lab. I’ve set up some devices, but I’m getting this error:
[agent] Communication failed: [Errno 111] Connection refusedCRIT, [snmp] Success, execution time 0.8 sec
My SNMP queries are working fine, but it looks like Checkmk is attempting to communicate with an agent on the monitored device, which doesn’t exist because you can’t load the agent on old Cisco hardware. When I set up the devices, I deselected ‘Checkmk agent / API integrations’ under the ‘Monitoring Agents’ section. Yet it appears that Checkmk is still attempting to communicate with a non-existent agent.
How do I shut off checkmk agent checks and do SNMP only?
thx

Your device configuration should look like this.

Instead of v1/2c credentials there can also be v3 settings. But for your device only the first setting for the agent is important.

thx - that worked.
Although it is kind of non-intuitive to have to check a box to disable something.

That is not completely correct. If your object inherit a setting from the parent object then it is the logical option to do. I think your parent folder has the setting “API integration or checkmk agent”.
