How to share dashboards across multiple contact groups

I have been tasked to try to help figure out how our company can share dashboards across multiple contact groups. A few other system administrators have tried and could not figure out how to do this. I said I would check the forums and see if I could find any solutions and, well, I have not. Most of the dashboard-related questions are 2+ years old.

I will use our short conversation to better show what the goal is:

me: So just to touch on what we were doing friday. We’re trying to find a way to view or share dashboards without the dashboards including other affiliate stuff?

him: that’s right, my use case was an affiliate requests a dashboard, we build it with our admin user, and then share it to their user. we would only see data for that affiliate when building the dashboard and the affiliate would only see the dashboards we shared with them.

me: what was the issue you guys were running into?

him: sharing a dashboard with just one affiliate from an admin account was our challenge, everything else up to that worked.


For instance, one affiliate has just shy of 100 dashboards that we have created for them. But we can’t seem to share those dashboards with just this affiliate user without things breaking.

I am relatively new to checkmk and have spent the last couple of weeks getting my feet wet learning this but this is a bit over my head so I’m hoping the forum will have a solution.

I’m not sure what your problem is. If you create a dashboard you can make it public available. And there you can define if you want to publish it for all users, for a list of contact groups or for a list of users. The last one is a feature starting with 2.2.
