Implementing mib files in Checkmk

Hi,

can anyone help me how it works with mib files in checkmk?

I have a innovaphone mib file which I would like to import in /omd/sites/monitoring_name/local/share/check_mk/mibs

Is that the right path?
Can anyone support me? Do I have to run the service discovery after that? Or are there missing some steps?
I didn’t have done this until yet.

Hi,
what do you want to achieve with it? There is a special agent for Innovaphone which is configured via Setup > Other integrations > Innovaphone Gateways. You do not need MIB files in Checkmk unless you want to translate SNMP traps in the Event Console.

I thought that in theese mib files are more checks for the gateway.

A MIB file is just the syntactical definition of the SNMP OIDs. There is no semantic information recorded, at least not machine readable.

Therefor it is not possible to generate useful checks from a MIB file. This is always a manual process to implement a check plugin (based on the information provided by the MIB).
