Installation of Defender for Server on the CheckMK Appliance

Hi all,

we´ve two customers who requested us to install the Windows Defender for Server on our monitoring appliances.
Is this even possible? Will we lose support of the appliances if we do so?
In general I´d think that this is a bad idea but I need some documentation to which I can point them.

Hi Jan,

maybe this helps:

Only activate and use the root user if you are absolutely certain about what you are doing and only for diagnostic purposes.

Usually it is ok when the devices are identified as a “appliance”.
I have not seen any customer installing antivirus on a vcenter appliance :slight_smile:
