IPv6 Agent Communication Failed - Invalid Argument

Good morning! I am trying to work with IPv6 more on my test network, and I am unable to get Check MK to monitor a device using only IPv6.

In this instance, the device I am trying to monitor is Linux with the Agent installed and running. If I do a netstat on the device I can see that Port 6556 is open for both IPv4 and IPv6.

In my Check_MK instance, I have configured a new host and specified IPv6 only in the IP Address family, and added the address in the IPv6 Address field. (I have added it with and with out identifying the interface using %eth0)

When I go to connection tests, if I have the interface added to the address, the Ping is successful, but the agent always returns: “Communication failed: [Errno 22] Invalid argument”

I have tried adjusting the check_mk agent file and adding and removing the “flags = IPv6” to the service.

I have also tried adding a host entry on the check mk server to resolve the name to the IPv6 address.

Any ideas of what I am missing to make this work? (I will admit that in all my years of working in IT, I am new to IPv6).

Thanks

Eric
