License reporting with distributed monitoring and two or more sites

Hey,

I do have a slight issue with our CCE instance.

I’ve setup a second CCE instance with their own licenses.

Now I’ve added them to our instance via distributed monitoring, but sadly the licenses are counted twice: for the CCE instance itself and second for our instance as well.

Is this intended?

Thanks for your replies.

Best regards

Sascha

2 instances with separate licenses?

It sounds like you’re trying to do integrated monitoring which per https://checkmk.com/application/files/4317/1204/2187/Checkmk_End_User_License_Agreement_Version_2_April_2024.pdf §2.6 has to be within one subscription. i.e. you can’t combine a 30k and a 7k subscription if you want a single view of your 35.000 services.

Ok. So I’m getting this right:
I can’t use the distributed monitoring to include the services from the other instance to have it in one single view despite the licences are already paid?

That’s very sad.

But thanks for the clarification.

it typically makes more sense to unify the two licenses into one.

because it is cheaper for you.
3000 services CCE = 3000€
7000 services CCE = 4800€
12000 services CCE = 6900€

you can run with one license as many sites as you want. only the total count of services matters.

I know that and I can understand that, but in this case this is no option, because the company with the 3000 license package is a customer from us and wanted to buy the licenses by himself, but we have to have a look after the monitoring.

So I wanted to have both instances in one view, but now I know that this is not possible :frowning:
