Logwatch plugin from 1.6.0p19.cre (python 2.7) not responding in Centos 8 (python3)

Hello,

We have one Check_mk Enterprise server 1.6.0p19.cre installed on a CentOS 8, and we want to monitor itself using its own logwatch plugin.

When we tested the agent locally we realized that there is no header for logwatch due to plugin is made for python 2.7 but CentOS 8 comes with python 3.

Please, How can we solved this compatibility issue? I don’t believe to downgrade system’s python3 is the best solution.

There is a Python 2.7 package available for CentOS 8 which can be installed in parallel to Python 3.

With CMK 2.0 you get the agent plugins also in a Python 3 version, but until then you need to install Python 2 for some agent plugins.
