Management board via IPMI does not support encryption

Version: 1.6.0p15
OS: linux

I am trying to monitor some Cisco UCS servers via IPMI from the “Management Board” section of the configuration. When I configure it I get the error:

“[mgmt_ipmi] Invalid RAKP4 integrity code (wrong Kg?)(?)”

This is because I am not able to enter an encryption key, only the username and password.

Now, if I add the CIMC as a distinct host using the " Check IPMI Sensors via Freeipmi or IPMItool" datasource it works. I have to select Freeipmi, and then enter my encryption key against “BMC Key”.

I want to avoid doubling up the hosts for all my physical hardware if possible, so how do i get the “BMC Key” option to appear under the “Management Board” section. Is it just not possible?

Thanks
Josh

Please don’t use it - this is broken
If you use the normal IPMI datasource program it should work.

hello jberry,

Like Andreas explained, we don´t use the optons from the management board section anymore.

For CIMC - Boards we use the “Check IPMI Sensors via Freeipmi” Rule.
Otherwise we had problems before, too.

Within the “Check IPMI Sensors via Freeipmi” Rule - we use the following options / parameters.

In the value section near user / password

Privilege Level > user
IPMI driver > lanplus
BMC Key > The BMC - Key >> important > 0x at the beginning, in front of the key
Qiet cache > Enable
Sensor State > Enable
Sensor threshold > Enable
Supress not available sensors > Enable

Since we used these settings, we have no problems anymore until yet.

Greetings from Dortmund
Thomas
