Missing RRD files

Hi,
we have sometimes problems with RRD files, which are not written automatically.

Our workaround so far is the following:
omd stop
rm /opt/omd/site/customer/var/pnp4nagios/perfdata/server/service.xml
omd start

This will recreate the service.xml file and also generates the rrd files, which were missing before.

The annoying part of this is the necessity to stop the site (even if its just for a few moments).

My question is now:
Does anybody know where this problem comes from?
Maybe even how to fix it for good?

We are using this version:
Checkmk Managed Services Edition 2.1.0p38

Cheers,
Roland.

Hi Roland,

i can´t answer your question directly but it seems, that you are still using the old rrd format, because the pnp4nagios folder is the “old” path and the correct one for your edition should be ~/var/check_mk/rrd.

Take a look at the following documentation:

I would recommend to change the rule to “One RRD per Host/Service” for hosts and services and migrate the rrds to the new format as described in the documentation.

As always - Test and make backups…
