Monitor third-party log files on Windows

Hello,
we would like to monitor a hardware appliance. Unfortunalety there is no CheckMK Plugin (DELL EMC FluidFS = NAS Appliance).

My idea is the following:

  • Install Windows CheckMK Agent on the host where “Dell Storage Manager” keeps his logs.
  • Write a script, which analyzes the logs and feed them to the Windows Agent.

What do you think, is this a worthy approach?

You already have mk_logwatch plugin. Isn’t that enough ?

Yes, this is surely a worthy approach.
As @ricardoftribeiro mentioned, you may be able to get the information you need
via logwatch, thus avoiding the creation of a specific script. Depends on what you want
to do/know/see in your CMK instance.
