Monitoring Syslog events in checkmk

Hi,

logger
–udp
–server 127.0.0.1
–port 514
–priority local0.alert
“Sample message with random number $RANDOM”

We are not able to run this cmd in cisco switch. Do we have anyother way to check if events sending from switch to Checkmk server

Also, please help us if there is any prerequisites that needs to be done from checkmk server end for capturing the events.

How we have setup the Event console now:

*We have enabled MKEVNTD,MKEVNTD_SNMPTRAP,MKEVNTD_SYSLOG via omd config.
*We have created a rule without specific priorities.

Please anyone let us know if other thing we have to check it.

Did you configure your Cisco switch to send its syslog messages to the checkmk server?
