Move checkmk from Docker container to Linux distribution

Hi,

I am having issues while following the official upgrade manual for checkmk in Docker container. The described way ends in:

docker: error during connect: Post “http://docker:2375/v1.24/containers/create”: dial tcp: lookup docker on 192.168.20.2:53: server misbehaving

Is there a way to backup the omd site and then restore on 2.1.0 installation? if yes, what are the steps?

If you can start your container and access the shell inside then it should be possible to copy the complete site to another machine outside the container.
The following article for “live migration” will help - i hope.

I did it “old school” like :laughing: Setup new VM with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and installed Checkmk in the same version like old OMD. Then OMD backup and scp to new VM. OMD update gone perfect. Switch from 2.0.0 to 2.1.0 need to teak some settings like TLS.
