I have configured a enforced check to look for zombie processes and it seems to be working great. I am trying to increase the normal check levels for this specific service to 10 minutes from 3 minutes set on all services to avoid flapping for zombie alerts.
Per my understanding the “Normal check interval for service checks” is applied to active checks and checkmk services.
I have already set it to 10 minutes however it doesnt seem to change the normal / retry from existing 180 / 60 seconds.
Hi,
enforced services are triggered in the same interval as the CheckMK agent. If you want to change this interval, you have to provide the service CheckMK$ in your rule. And consider the rule order: special rules are at the beginning of the list - above general rules.
Would that mean all services will have the interval updated ? I am trying to force only one service to check at a different time and let others run as usual
@kdeutsch I am seeing the rule for 10 minutes is getting applied and is overriding the 3 minute rule however this is happening only when i am trying to use the service label associated with the specific service
Problem is the normal / retry check timings still are at 180 / 60 second.
Shouldn’t they be updating too when the rule is matching a custom timing set using specific labels and is overwriting the default 3 minute check interval?
Trying again if someone has any thoughts, i have setup local instance on a vm to replicate this and seems like only CheckMK$ service is adhering to updated larger time interval, other active checks dont seem to check the service at new interval however show the updated value in “parameters for this service” section.
To me this appears to be a bug, will be helpful if someone could review and suggest a workaround.
