Passwords in cleartext / unencrypted

Hi,

I have noticed that some passwords / logins are stored unencrypted in plain text on the system.
For example with the Mailboxes Services.
Why are the entries not encrypted by default? To be honest, I’m a bit shocked that password entries in the input masks are stored in plain text on the system.

There are many more strings in which plain text passwords are used. This is just one example.
Is this normal with CheckMK?

Big thanks!

Many checks already use the password store.

One issue remains: What key do you use to encrypt the passwords and where is that key stored?

In the end Checkmk needs the passwords in plaintext to login to APIs and other systems.

Okay, I see. It seems that only the password of the mentioned service is stored in plain text on the system. Is that normal?
