With enterprise edition and smart ping enabled as host check you ping the hosts every 6 seconds.
I think this should be count as permanent ping.
You can also additionally set up a ping service on the host using the “Check hosts with PING (ICMP Echo Request)” rule. This gives you a better view of the performance data.
And how often is this ping started? I can’t find an option for that…
Can I change the standard time of 60 seconds to something less?
The most often ping is the smart ping with one packet every 6 seconds.
The classic ping is only 1 time per check interval and this means normally every one minute.
I think that the PING check is an exception here and counts as an active check.
I have defined a check interval of 15s via the rule “Normal check interval for service checks”, which works.
This can also be recognized by the color of the symbol for the action “reschedule check”.
