Placing hosts on geographical map by lat/long

I would like to use custom host attributes to specify latitude and longitude, and have the hosts placed automatically on a worldmap. Is this possible and how?

I have tried setting up custom attributes _LAT and _LONG plus source_type=backend as suggested in Werk #14077: NagVis Geomaps: Deprecate wato_geo_fields.py in favor of regular custom host attributes. This works fine on geomap - but I would like to have a worldmap.

I am currently testing on Checkmk raw 2.3.0p7 but I am happy to move to any edition and any version.

Hi @arvid,

as far as I know, it’s not possible with a “world map”.
Here is a tutorial to do it currently with the geomap:

If you really think this is a much-needed feature, you should use the idea’s portal to give Checkmk’s product management team the idea and the demand for a feature like this.

Hope this helps.
