Plugin Timed out - Response time is high. Checkmk service is flapping

Hi,

We are facing an issue where the Checkmk service is flapping, and the Checkmk Agent reports plugin timeouts. This is causing services to become stale and missing monitoring data.

  • Symptoms:

    • Agent plug-ins timing out after 600 seconds

    • Missing monitoring data for all plugins

    • Stale services and intermittent CRIT/WARN states

As discussed with our Linux team, they suggested separating the MK Oracle and OS plugins to reduce execution time and prevent timeouts.

Could you please advise:

  1. The recommended steps or configuration to separate MK Oracle and OS plugins.

  2. Any troubleshooting actions we can perform within Checkmk itself to mitigate plugin timeout issues (e.g., adjusting agent timeout settings, optimizing plugin execution, or modifying agent configuration).

Pls guide us through the steps which resolves this issue permanently.
