I want to investigate this, or adapt the checkmk setting for this host.
There are a few similiar nodes with this same Host Alerts.
But some other nodes are in the same subnet, but no Alerts.
1st question - I would like to change the check interval, but - which service is this exactly? For me it’s a ping check.
Of course this would probably not let the error disappear, but at least the Alert rate would go down.
So is this the starting point to increase from standard 60s to let’s say 5 min ?
And is the service called “PING” ?
Setup > Services > Service Monitoring rules > Normal check interval for service checks >
Is the monitored system a Windows host? If so, check its firewall. For reasons that elude me, Microsoft thinks dropping ICMP echo requests by default is a good idea. The UP states would be due to the agent communication on port 6556\tcp.
As no-one said it yet: Your probably want to understand, why the host(s) are not answering to ICMP echo request repeadetly. The 15 seconds default deadline is not really short in terms of ICMP.
