These notifications are not from services but host checks.
If you go to Setup > Hosts > Host monitoring rules > Host checks you have several rule options to tweak them.
Normal check interval for host is probably needed for your 1st question.
Alternatively you can go for Host Check Command and do the interval built in the command as is suggested in following recent topic:
