Run Check DNS service from explicit hosts

Hi,

I want to run the “Check DNS service” from a specific host to a specific DNS server. However, the CheckMK server is always initiation DNS queries.

Is there any option to do so? From my understanding, and other topics, the selected (explicit) host should check DNS instead of the CheckMK server.

I’m running 1.6.0p20.

Thanks for you help!

Hi,
have a look at docs.checkmk.com for your problem:
https://docs.checkmk.com/latest/en/active_checks.html#mrpe
https://docs.checkmk.com/latest/en/agent_windows.html#mrpe

Thanks for your advice. I managed to get this running using mrpe configuration and check_dns plugin copied to remote host.
Is there any option to pass the mrpe configuration (e.g. queried dns server) using WATO?

Hi,
if you work with the Enterprise Edition you can use the Agent Bakery for deployment of the plugin and the configuration file. If you use the RAW Edition, you have to setup manually.
