SLA Reporting - PDF and Calculation

Hi,

I have put some time and tried to make the pdf for SLA a bit more pretty - at least in my opinion

It is not final yet I still try to make it better and try to find out how I can put the background color width to the width of the text and more…
But besides the layout I have “fixed” the calculation of the aggregated percentage. (it’s color is not yet adjusted - need to find out how to…).
According to the calculation - it was done before like that:

Periods:
OK OK OK OK Broken OK Broken
(1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 0 + 1 + 0) / count of values

What I do now:

Sum all the values and divide by count of values:
(99.98 + 100 + 99.90 + 100 + 100) / 5

If you put that for a year then you got the yearly SLA if I am correct. (Yes there is a feature request of yearly calculation but we send monthly reports and I am afraid that the “yearly option” would not strip it down…)

Does anyone see a use-case for the first calculation like it was before? Because I am not sure why someone would like to know that 2 of 12 for example were “broken”.

Kind regards
Mathias

Wouldn’t it depend on how the SLA is defined?

If you have an annual target of 99.9% uptime, then the second calculation is correct and the first one would be misleading.

If the target is defined on a monthly basis, then the first calculation give you the percentage of months during which you were adhering to the defined target. In this case, the second calculation would be “wrong”.

As an example:
if you have monthly targets of 99.9%, and in 6 months you had 99.81%, and in 6 months you had 100%, the second calculation would give you >99.9% - suggesting that you adhered to the SLA the entire year, when in reality you missed your targets half of the year (so the first calculation would give you only 50%).

Yeah true but that’s why I am asking if really someone is interested to know how much is 8/12… just asking to get feedback of other people who are using the SLA.

We have overwritten it with local/ and for us it is at least working like that. I know that it is not working for everyone probably but we are fine with that layout and information for now or at least will see when we are final with the setup…
