After upgrading from V1.6x (CRE) to V2.0p20 (CEE) the HP ILOs could no longer be queried.
SNMPv3 with authentication and privacy (authpriv)
Auth protocol: SHA-256
Priv protocol: AWS-128
Error: smtp3: Invalid SNMP auth protocol:
A snmpwalk from the checkmk server with the same credentials is successful.
Only after switching to SHA-96 the query succeeds. Is there an explanation/solution for this?
With enterprise it is possible that you need to switch the SNMP backend to the classic one for this host. I had similar problems with SNMPv3 and the inline backup for some special hosts or combinations of Auth/Priv protocols.
Keep in mind, you don’t need to switch the complete SNMP backend. It is enough only to do this for the problem host.
