Hello!!

We have CheckMK version 2.2 and have activated rules to decrease the sampling frequency of services based on their importance. We already have almost 2000 hosts registered, and we are constantly adding more. These rules are working for the new hosts, but they are not working for those that were already registered before the rule was created.

We have a pre-production environment and have tested that by deleting the RRD folders from the hosts (on the server) that were registered before the rule was created, they began to function according to the rule’s conditions. The question is, is there a way to apply the rule to hosts that were registered years ago without having to delete the RRD folders from the server and lose the historical data?

The manual describes the procedure to convert existing RRDs. I suggest you read the whole section “9.2 Customizing the RRD structure” before you run anything.

From prior experience I’d also advice to test this first in order to gain an appreciation how long it’ll take. It’s certainly not instantaneous.
