Hello there,
We seem to be clear for KVM. The scenario of deploying OVA on KVM is supported (example for Proxmox and others KVM based hypervisors).
Documentation here: Installation of the virtual appliance
Chapter 5. Installation under Proxmox
We are not clear about Hyper-V and We need to resolve this with support.
We are solving the analysis for potential migration of CheckMK to Hyper-V or KVM.
It seems that Hyper-V is not among the certified hypervisors, however, an alternative way is to use a supported Guest OS = RHEL, SLES, Debian, Ubuntu.
- Here is the documentation for supported Guest OS: Basic information on the installation of Checkmk
Basic information on the installation of CheckMK, Chapter 2. Supported Distributions
CheckMK says here, what are the supported deployment scenarios: Setting up Checkmk
Setting up Checkmk, in the case of an unsupported certificate hypervisor it is Chapter 3.1 Linux Server.
It seems that the path for a “vendor based appliance” via “Hyper-V VHDX” is closed for us in Hyper-V, but the path is opened via manual installation on a “supported Guest OS”.
Manual path for us means:
-
Manually create VM on Hyper-V cluster.
-
Manually install Guest OS (by supported RHEL, SLES, Debian, Ubuntu) on new VM.
-
Manually install CheckMK on new Server VM.
We need confirmation from CheckMK vendor that the above path is supported and we will not lose support.
