Error message: API Error:Decryption of SNMPv3 password failed.
Hello,
I get this error message every time when I run it with a new snmp host connection test. It appears directly on all check windows, so I guess it is an internal checkmk error. I tried differnet passwords but it does’nt change anything.
The error also appears when I run the test on working snmp hosts I added some time ago. So I guess there was a change in one of the last updates that causes this problem.
Same problem here since the last CMK update (now on vers. Checkmk Enterprise Edition 2.3.0p31).
The Problem is just if the “save and run coinnection test” and there the “SNMPv3 credentials” is used. No Problem if those parameters were set in the SNMP-Rule “SNMP credentials of monitored hosts”.
We’re running 2.4.0p1 on an appliance (v.1.7.10) as well as on AlmaLinux VMs with distributed monitoring.
As @Josef mentioned, it only seems to happen in the “Run Connection Tests” page when you specify credentials there. If you define credentials via the SNMP Rules and leave the credentials setting un-checked in the Connection Tests page, the error does not appear.
