“Unknown password type.” when trying to add AWS S3 Backup Target

CMK version: 2.5.0p1 (Community)
OS version: Debian 13

**Error message: “**Unknown password type.” when trying to add AWS S3 Backup Target.

Hi all, I’ve just used a fresh install of 2.5.0p1 to test out the new custom endpoint url feature for S3 backup target. ( Werk #17459: Allow to store backsup to S3 compatible providers )

But it seem S3 backup target does not work at all anymore. I’ve just entered access key, secret key and bucket name, but with or without endpoint url I receive the message “Unknown password type.” immediately. Do I have to setup anything else or is it a bug? Because I cannot find any detailed documentation for this topic, anyone else facing this issue?

Thanks in advance

Same with Azure backup … It looks like yet another bug on 2.5

The problem is reproducible. I have opened an internal ticket on this.

Thanks for reporting it.

Do you have any update on when the fix will be published please? I couldn’t find a corresponding werk yet.

Currently, it’s in progress. I will keep you posted.

Got the same issue today. Are you guys putting the password in or are you using the password store?

Tried both (direct and pw store) doesn’t work either.

@chauhan_sudhir @Sara is anybody aware of that? Backing up to S3 seems to be broken right now then.

Yes, were just confirming.
Here is the werk, it will be released with p8: Werk #20097: Fix "Unknown password type." when configuring AWS S3 or Azure backup targets
Upd: from what I understand, it is to be released around the 30th of June, but I cannot promise a specific date unfortunately.
