What’s the best way to submit a slightly different version of the dnsclient plugin? It’s not a big difference. Just using dig instead of nsloookup and added the capability of resolving for IPv6 addresses.

If you know the source of the plugin and there is a git Repository, you could write a pull request for the enhancement.
If not, just package it and upload it to the Exchange with a good description.
Usually the plugins are written with the GPL, so I would make sure to clarify what the original author of the plugin is and what the changes are.
