What is stale status in Dashboard for service

i wish to know what is stale option in dashboard,
why its showing stale many times? and normally how much time it takes to get rid off that status of stale ?

Stale means no check result in the time of 1,5 configured check intervals.
If your services should be checked every minute then the service is shown stale after 90 seconds without an check result.
In my systems i change the stale value to something between 3 and 5 (global settings). This is more practical then 1,5 in my opinion and i keep it the same value i set for services as check attempts until it reaches an hard state.
