Access Points not showing when monitoring the Wireless Controller

Since these Access Points (they’re extreme) don’t support direct SNMP Access, we though about using the WLC.

Those are the configurations we used. By enabling the “publish AP as interface of controller” it would be expected to show on CheckMK the Access Points as interfaces of the controller, which is not the case shown in the image below.

We tried on the others controller’s as well, same result.
Also, when we do a snmpwalk over the ifmib table you see all the accesspoints as interfaces, so it doesn’t look like an Extreme Wireless controller problem.

Hi,
did you try out to put all notwork port to the discovery to find the APs in the SNMP data?

Cheers,
Christian

Hi,
Thanks I got it with your answer.

Hi Pedro,
that’s easy. You got Setup and type in the filter field “port”. Now you get a list of Rulesets. Find in “Service Discovery Rule” the ruleset “Network Interface and switch port discovery”. Create a rule with the following options:

Move all available port to selected. After that, run an new service discovery in the device.

I hope it will help,
Christian

Hi Christian,

Have a nice day!
