Is there an easy way to write a tag to a machine, based on the service summary?
For example… If the summary of ESX Datastores is “superbigvolume”.
Then set on the machine the tag esx_datastore: esx_superbigvolume.
Maybe I could then go forward to grab all filesystems of the tagged machines and combine them into a graph.
Hallo,
which problem do you want to solve with this?
You know robware vmtools. Maybe you can use the informations to add tags and lables as ma need.

Depends,
You can use service label rules to create a service label called “esx:superbigvolume” if the service contains “superbigvolume” yes you can have that as a label.
I dont see the need to have this as a host label however, as you will have multiple datastores, right?
That should be possible with our data2label extension. Have a look at the exchange.
@r.sander thanks - you’re right. I thought about at that at the conference. Have to look at it.
Actually I try to solve multiple things. but this Combining VM Usage to LUN / Volume usage in Vcenter should also be solvable with that.
