Intermittently available clients

Hi all

Firstly, I’m very new to CheckMk. I’ve done a lot of googling but have not been able to solve several issues. Apologies if this has been addressed.

As I said, I’ve several issues but I’ll ask them in separate posts…

We have hundreds of systems that need to be monitored but we suffer from poor comms so the systems are frequently not available.

I created a label called “dialup” and set the value to “true” for the hosts that I know can be unavailable intermittently.

I looked at [Check_mk (english)] Monitoring hosts that are connected only intermittently - #5 by Michael_Ionescu but didn’t get anywhere.

Using CheckMk v2.2, any ideas how to get CheckMk to not go critical if a system with dialup:true is not pingable?

Thanks

If you can live with stale services, search for the rule “Host check command” and start from there.

Do you mean like this?

Yes, “either assume host always to be up” or use the state of a service that describes best what this hosts task is.
